New York Times Review: An Ensemble Chooses Well in Programs, Not in Name
Kind of hilarious that the New York Times review goes out of its way to explain why the acronym for our name isn't a favorite. Come on guys, cut us some slack! ;-) At least they love the music!

So far the Academy has made only one inexplicable decision. The fellows perform under the name Ensemble ACJW (an abbreviation standing for the Academy of Carnegie, Juilliard and Weill). As names go, this one does not exactly stick in the mind or roll off the tongue.Coming up with a good name for a new ensemble is not easy. But an abbreviation has to be catchy to be successful. The N.F.L. is pretty good. The best ever, I think, is the N.A.A.C.P., at least if you say it informally as “N, double-A, C, P,” which gives the letters a jazzy swing. I’m sorry, but Ensemble ACJW (I have to check twice every time I type it) is a clunker.What matters most, of course, is that the ensemble gave a terrific concert, the first of 19 this season in New York, at Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall and Paul Hall (now there’s a name) at Juilliard.https://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/12/arts/music/12ense.html
